The Bear Sheath

This sheath was such a fun piece to make! Made specifically for a handmade knife I took my inspiration from that amazing green handle. As soon as I saw it I immediately thought of the northern lights.

I didn’t want the back to be just brown, so I dyed the back of the sheath a dark green to tie into the front carving and the handle. The whole piece is stitched with a hunter-green thread continuing the green theme throughout.

The carving itself is the second one I did. My first carving was horizontal and included quite a bit more scenery, but I wanted the bear to be the second focal point so I opted for this upright roaring bear. I love how this carving makes the whole piece more fierce! You can see the original carving idea in the photo gallery below, which design do you prefer?
