I love projects like these, projects where the leatherwork becomes part of an heirloom piece that was passed down and will continue to be passed down; as is the case with this lovely sheath!
Meant to be a practical piece we kept it simple with a classic basketweave, however, I wrapped the pattern around to the back. As a passed down hunting knife, this sheath had to be made sturdy enough to last a few generations in the field; as such, I created the entire sheath out of one piece of leather!
As an added touch of whimsy, which I think was just right, my customer chose to tie it all together with a purple thread! I burned their initials to the face of the sheath so that they would match the antiquing. And this knife sheath is all around one of a kind!
